Want to Run an Email Campaign? Avoid These MistakesAn email campaign may sound like it’s an easy way to make some money, but in actuality, it’s also an easy way to destroy your reputation as a company. Here are two mistakes you should avoid when doing an email campaign.

Present Your Unsubscribe Button Openly

Have you hidden the unsubscribe button somewhere at the bottom of your email? Or have you made it painfully obvious and easy to unsubscribe? You should be doing the latter, if you aren’t already. There’s nothing more frustrating than searching for an unsubscribe button and not being able to find it. Many businesses, even large ones, make the button very discreet to try and discourage people from unsubscribing. Worse yet, some require you enter your information on the unsubscribe page and click to confirm. Sometimes your email is just a victim of the want for a cleaner inbox – that doesn’t mean they hate you or your company (until they can’t find the unsubscribe button).

Give Them Something for Almost Nothing

You’re making a huge mistake if you aren’t offering a freebie with sign up. Even something as easy and simple as an ebook is a good start, and maybe even offering a free discount for a product you’re selling. Your “cookie” doesn’t have to be an eighty page book by any means, and most people will actually appreciate if it’s short and easy to get through.

Remember, when choosing an email campaign strategy, consulting someone who knows a lot about these types of campaigns is always a good idea. If you can’t find one or don’t want one, then make sure you always collect emails when you can and that your unsubscribe button is easy to locate.
